Fuel Efficiency
Being able to tap into the body’s abundant natural fat stores is crucial to maintaining a lean body composition, high energy levels and going the distance in endurance events. The fuel efficiency test is a metabolic test that identifies the current health of your metabolism and allows our consultants to make recommendations on how to exercise and what to eat to enhance your ability to burn fat.

The fuel efficiency test has a wide application and will add value to any person with the following goals:
- Improve endurance performance – running, triathlon, cycling etc
- Improve body composition – lose fat
- Improve energy levels and mental clarity
+ THE TEST PROCESS
The test can be conducted on our treadmill or on your own bicycle using our computrainer. The test protocol will be determined by our consultants based on your current ability and goals.
During the test, participants will complete a submaximal ramp test (gradually increasing in speed / power) wearing a mask that measures the ratio between oxygen and carbon dioxide.
At the end of your test, your consultant will spend considerable time with you explaining the results, their application and what you need to do to achieve the results you want.

+ BEFORE TEST PREPARATION
To maximize your test experience, it’s important that you follow these basic instructions:
- No food or drink (except water) for at least 4 hours before your test
- No or light training the day prior to your test
- No training the day of your test
- Come well hydrated (water only prior to testing)
- Please arrive in comfortable sports attire – shorts, t-shirt or singlet, shoes
Lactate Threshold
Having an efficient lactate clearing system is an important component of endurance training and racing. The lactate test allows our consultants to identify your lactate threshold and determine accurate personal heart rate training zones that you can apply to maximize the benefit of every session that you do.

The ability to clear lactate is an important physiological process for all endurance athletes, including:

+ THE TEST PROCESS
Lactate testing can be conducted on our treadmill or on your own bicycle using our computrainer. The test protocol will be determined by your consultant based on your current ability and goals.
During the test, participants will complete 5 stages at increasing intensities with blood samples being taken in between stages to measure lactate levels in the blood.
At the end of your test, your consultant will spend considerable time with you explaining your lactate curve, your threshold, heart rate zones and their application to your training.

To maximize your test experience, it’s important that you follow these basic instructions:

- No training the day of your test
- Come well hydrated

- If you’re completing the test on the computrainer, you’ll need to bring your bicycle and related clothing and accessories.
Body Composition
A lean body composition is the cornerstone of good health and fast racing. The body composition test is a caliper test that allows our consultants to establish how much fat you currently store on your body. This number can be easily tracked over time and is far more accurate than measuring weight alone.

The body composition is a useful measure for any person with the following goals:
- Lose fat and track fat loss
- Optimize body composition without losing power / strength
+ THE TEST PROCESS
Body composition testing is performed by trained consultants using callipers to measure skinfold thicknesses at 8 sites around the body. These readings are then used to calculate body fat percentage using age and gender specific equations.
At the end of your test, your consultant will spend time with you explaining your body composition and what you need to do to achieve the results you want.

30 minutes including testing & consultation.
+ BEFORE TEST PREPARATION
To maximize your test experience, it’s important that you follow these basic instructions:
- For females the appropriate attire should be a racer-back / halter running top and running shorts (to facilitate shoulder blade and thigh skinfold measurements)
- For males your normal running or cycling attire is fine
VO2max
(Only available in Singapore)
The VO2max test measures your body’s ability to consume oxygen during exercise. Being able to effectively take in oxygen and deliver it to the muscles will enable you to swim, bike, run (etc) faster at a given effort.

The VO2max test is a great predictor of aerobic potential and an indicator of general fitness suitable for:
- Runners
- Triathletes
- Cyclists
- Cross country skiers
- Rowers
- And more
+ THE TEST PROCESS
VO2max testing can be conducted on our treadmill or on your own bicycle using our computrainer. The test protocol will be determined by your consultant based on your current ability and goals.
During the test, participants will complete a maximal step test while wearing a mask to measure ventilation, oxygen and carbon dioxide concentration of the inhaled and exhaled air.
At the end of your test, your consultant will spend considerable time with you explaining your results and their application to your training.

Running Economy
(Only available in Singapore)
Measures the effectiveness of your training and changes in technique. By improving you will use less oxygen and be able to sustain faster speeds over longer periods of time, with less fatigue.

The running economy test determines the amount of oxygen used by muscles to run at a particular speed and works best for:
- Runners
- Triathletes
- Soccer players
- AFL players
- Rugby players
- And more

Running economy testing will be conducted on our treadmill. The test protocol will be determined by your consultant based on your current ability and goals.
During the test, participants will complete a sub-maximal step test while wearing a mask to measure the volume of oxygen consumed.
At the end of your test, your consultant will spend considerable time with you explaining your results and their application to your training.

To maximize your test experience, it’s important that you follow these basic instructions:
- No or light training the day prior to your test

Sweat Analysis
(Only available in Singapore in groups of 3 or 4)
Any issues such as upset stomach, early onset fatigue, or muscle cramping can be identified by the numbers collected during the sweat test. Understanding your unique physiological makeup allows you to address your needs and plan a hydration strategy accordingly.
+ SUITABLE FOR?
The sweat test records your sweat rate (volume of sweat you lose) based on intensity and the environmental conditions and also the sodium concentration of your sweat. This info would be useful for:
- Runners
- Triathletes
- Soccer players
- AFL players
- Rugby players
- Crossfitters
+ THE TEST PROCESS
The sweat test will be conducted on the equipment that is sport specific such as our treadmill for runners, indoor bike for triathletes or rower for crossfitters. You will need to maintain a high end steady intensity throughout the test. Your work load will be adjusted depending on how much sweat is being collected.
Before the assessment, participants will weigh themselves nude, with and without a bottle.
During the assessment, participants will train for approximately 60 minutes and will be allowed to drink from a bottle.
At the end of your assessment, your consultant will collect the sweat samples and you will weight yourself again nude, with and without a bottle.
The samples will be analysed and a consultant will be in touch to explain your results and make recommendations addressing the identified issues.

75 minutes including testing, recording data and sample collection.
